Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv prepares professionals capable of generating new knowledge, with innovative thinking, able to organize and manage innovation processes at various levels who are ready to work in a competitive environment, to be mobile.
Today the field of innovation requires professionals who have, on the one hand, knowledge of modern mechanisms of development economics, management, marketing, business planning, on the other hand - the specifics of research and innovation as well as the mechanisms of their interaction. That is why the training of scientific and pedagogical staff at the university belongs to
top-priority strategic objectives of scientifically-innovative potential of Ukraine.
Preparation of scientific and pedagogical staff at the doctorate or PhD programs at the National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv is performed at 186 departments, 13 faculties of the University and at 151 scientific specialties, which is 35% of the total number of scientific specialties in Ukraine.
List of documents to be provided to Academic Council of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
1. Application to the Chairman of the Academic Council for adopting thesis for examination, in which you must specify that the thesis is to be defended fort he first time.
2. Photocopy of the first page of the applicant’s passport (2 copies).
3. Personal card (Form P-2DS), approved by the Ministry of Statistics of Ukraine from 26.12.95 N 343 (z0484-95), registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine from 28.12.95 N 484/1020, certified by the signature of the head of HR department and stamp from the main job, with the stamp of institution on the photo (2 copies).
4. A copy of the Master's degree diploma (Specialist) (2 copies).
Please kindly notice! If the diploma of higher education is issued by the educational institution of a foreign country, it’s a subject to confirmation at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. While applying for the Postgraduate Studies at the University both a copy of diploma and a copy of the certificate of recognition of foreign educational documents issued by Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine are to be provided (2 copies).
5. Certificates of passing candidate exams in the form specified by the Regulation on the training of scientific and pedagogical staff, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from 01.03.99 N 309 (309-99-p).
6. A sample of the order of admission to graduate school, if the applicant was accepted at the graduate school.
7. Supervisor’s recommendation (research consultant) to estimate applicant’s performance while preparing the dissertation, stamped at the main job of supervisor (scientific advisor).
Please attach four postcards with stamps indicating applicant’s address (2 cards) and location of the research institution or university, which has specialized academic council (2 cards). On the back of postcards in the upper right corner ther must be indicated First Name, Second Name and Last Name of the applicant including the specialty which the applicant applies for.
CD-type CD-R or CD-RW, which contains the file with text abstract.

Please kindly notice! When processing documents of the foreigner his full name appear in the order in which they are written in the passport document.

Sponsorship of study
The doctorate program can be conducted at the expense of:
- state budget;
- legal entities and individuals;
- International agreements;
- National educational programs;
- Agreements concluded between the University and legal entities and individuals;
Application documents
Applicants for doctoral submit to the rector of the University the following documents:
1. Application form
2. Personal record sheet from the previous place of work
3. The list of publications and inventions;
4. Medical health certificate by form # 0-86.
5. A copy of the certificate of graduation from the higher educational establishment obtaining qualifications of Specialist or Masters.
6. A copy of the candidate degree certificate.
7. A copy of the associate professor degree certificate.
8. Comprehensive plan of dissertation for the Doctor of Science degree.
9. Copy of ID card.

Doctoral candidates rights
- Bursary in case of being accepted on the state budget basis in accordance with applicable law;
- Nonresident doctoral candidates are provided with the dormitory for non-family on the basis of certificates of residence.
- Doctoral candidates use holidays annually for up to two calendar months which are included in the general term for doctor.
- The term of doctoral program provided on the general basis doesn’t exceed 3-year period.
