The Faculty of Law at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv is an elite centre for modern legal education and research in Ukraine. It has enjoyed a tradition of excellence for over 175 years and is recognized as one of the Ukraine’s premier law faculties. Internationally renowned and research-led, our Faculty dates back to the Law Faculty of the Imperial St. Vladimir University, which at the time was the first in Europe. Our graduates are respected and sought after throughout Ukraine and worldwide.
As one of the Ukraine’s largest law faculties, it offers the opportunity to study an incredibly varied range of degree programmes and modules, taught by respected leading academics through to visiting lecturers from other world universities and law firms. Every significant area in legal research is represented within the Faculty, including but not limited to: theory and history of the statehood and law, administrative, financial tax, civil, commercial, criminal, agricultural, land, environmental, family, civil procedure and criminal procedure law, international private, and international law, etc.

The Faculty also offers Master Programmes in: Civil Law, Intellectual Property and Information Relations, International Private Law, Legal Business Consulting. Theory and Philosophy of Law, History of Law and Statehood, Criminal Law, Criminology, Executive Law and Procedure, Notary, Commercial Law, Constitutional Law, Advocacy, Administrative Jurisdiction, Administrative Law, Commercial Law, Environmental and Nature Resource Law, Energy Law, Land and Agricultural Law, Information Law, Criminal Litigation, International Public Law, Tax Law, Social Security Law, Public Administration, Judicial and Law Enforcement Bodies, Labour Law, Financial Law, Civil Litigation, Court Investigation.
An international Master Programme “Human Rights and Democratization Outside the EU” taught in English is also available. New international Master programmes resulting in “double diplomas” with EU universities are being introduced.
Current student body of the Faculty is over 3,000. Over 200 academics, including 26 Professors, over 75 Associate Professors lead the way in innovative education, and are working hard behind the scenes to ensure the students have the best opportunities available to them. All aimed at building strong CVs and successful futures.
The students of the Faculty have a choice of optional subjects as well as those taught in English. We offer the most in-demand and up-to-date legal programmes, all delivered in a variety of flexible formats: role plays, internship at various legislation, judiciary and executive bodies, notary, law firms, etc.
International cooperation is being actively developed. International Summer Schools are available to our students in Germany, Lithuania, Moldova, and other countries). International internship programmes at European Parliament and Federal Agency for Environmental Protection (USA). A number of optional subjects are taught by visiting lecturers in English, including English for Law Students, Legal Writing in English, US Commercial Law, Adversarial Proceedings, Introduction to German Law, Introduction to American Criminal Justice System, etc.

Programme duration:
Bachelor: full-time – 4 years, part-time – 5 years

The Faculty of Law also offers Postgraduate and Doctoral studies and research opportunities.
The languages of instruction for international students are Ukrainian, Russian, and English.
